Costa Rica Las Lajas Gold Label Coffee

Grind Level Guide

Notify me when this product is available:

The last Costa Rican Gold Label, was truly the Gold standard for our coffees.  It was one of the most loved coffees we've ever offered and for good reason.  When the 2014 crop of it ran out, I've been looking for a replacement and cupboard has been bare.  However, this coffee came up.  I asked about it from my supplier and they were reluctant, because the price was so high.  Outside of the Geisha coffee, I've never paid so much for coffee. I took a gamble on this coffee, but I think it'll be a gamble worth taking.  I'm not going to say this is better than last year's Gold Label Costa Rican, because they're so different.  But as the memory of that coffee begins to fade, this one fills the void nicely.

This coffee was described to me as having a watermelon taste.  I don't get that as a flavor, however the light almost refreshing mouthfeel has to be what they were talking about.  The dry grounds have a very distinct stonefruit aroma, this coffee smells so good, I want to go just grind a few grams as I write this.  However, the flavor is very much what you'd expect from a great Costa Rican coffee.  Nutty, caramel with a sweet fruited finish.  Come to think of it, I will go brew a cup.

Gold Las Lajas attracts coffee Gnomess

Brush your teeth and say your prayers. I wish I could find some flaws, there aren't any. Enticing aroma. First sip lightly roasted
peanut with subtle Carmel notes.
Mouthfeel medium juicy remenisent of mild water melon
taken near the rind. Mild acidity
balances the brew. Peanut lingers briefly on the palate. BEWARE!
This stuff attracts coffee Gnomes. I
had a full pound a few short days
ago. It' almost gone. I keep finding
my mug empty when I know there
was some left. Wiley coffee
Gnomes. YOU HAVE BEEN

Costa Rica Las Lajas Gold Label

I ordered this coffee for my grandson's birthday. He was thrilled with the aroma first, then brewed it for his morning cup. He was delighted with it. He called me to tell me that I knew just what to send him and he really liked it.
