February Coffee Connoisseur Information: Regions
Coffee and wine are extremely similar in many ways. Both are specialty drinks, both are made from a plant, and both have high-end and low-end premiums. But there is one similarity that is often missed at first glance, and that is both drinks’ flavor profiles are dependent on where they’re grown. Wine accentuates this idea to the fullest, farms such as Cabernet are practically their own flavor, and this is actually true in the high-end coffee industry as well. The coffee plant is a sponge of its environment, everything from the soil to the climate is going to affect how your final product of coffee is going to taste. In this month’s sampler, we explore two coffees from entirely different ends of the earth to gain a more distinct understanding of this concept.
