Pour Over Coffee Brewing

by Matthew Kellso June 27, 2013

Pour Over coffee brewing is simple, inexpensive and draws some of the best flavor out of the beans. This isn't your mother's drip coffee method.   I love drinking coffee using what I would call the most simple and inexpensive brewing method.  The pour over coffee brewing method has a bit of an art to it, but at the end of the day it just provides the most well-rounded flavor.

Drip brewing is a widely used method of coffee brewing. This is basically the same thing however with the pour over coffee brewing method you have a little more control over brewing parameters than automatic machines. Also, the typical electrical drip brewer does not heat the water enough for full extraction. The pour over method allows you to heat it to the perfect temperature (between 192F & 204F, slightly below boiling).

I found this video online and it has great tips for developing your pour over skills.  Take a look, try it out and let me know what you think.

I’m glad to see this on here! I love my Chemex. I just ordered some Kenyan from you and am looking forward to see how it compares to some others I had recently from Intelligentsia and Bows and Arrows.
